NCACIA DART Course Description
Domestic Assault Response Training (DART) is NCACIA’s flagship investigative program designed to enhance the competency, precision, and trauma-informed judgment of professionals responding to intimate-partner violence, family violence, and high-risk domestic assault cases. This course provides a multidisciplinary, evidence-based framework that integrates behavioral science, forensic interviewing, risk assessment, and offender psychology to improve investigative accuracy and victim safety.
DART begins with a detailed examination of power-and-control dynamics, the Cycle of Violence, and the broad spectrum of coercive behaviors that define modern domestic abuse—including psychological aggression, financial control, isolation strategies, technology-facilitated abuse, and post-separation violence. Participants learn to interpret these dynamics not merely as incidents, but as patterned behavior systems that shape victim responses, disclosure barriers, and offender tactics.
