Expert Witness Training Program (EWTP)

This NCAICA course is a 24-hour (3 day) course. Topics of instruction will include:

Day 1: Legal

 

On the first day, participants will learn about the legal considerations involved in expert witness testimony. They will explore rules for experts, the scope of expertise, and the creation of curriculum vitae's. The course will also cover practical exercises to assist students in creating CVs and a voir dire explanation.

 

Day 2: Practical Exercises

 

On the second day, participants will participate in practical exercises to enhance their skills. They will practice voir dire and expert witness reports, as well as case preparation with attorneys in a round table format. Additionally, participants will engage in direct examination practical exercises.

 

Day 3: Ethics and Conclusion

 

On the final day, participants will focus on ethics and conclusion. They will explore transcripts, consistency, ethics, and conflicts of interest. The course will also cover fee schedules and payments, as well as cross-examination practical exercises. The course will conclude with an exam, evaluation, and other concluding activities.

Overall, this course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective expert witnesses in legal proceedings. Upon completion of the course, participants will be equipped to make a real impact in legal cases as expert witnesses.
