Behind every teen caught vaping at school…Behind every young adult OD’ing in silence…Behind every foster youth who “won’t follow the rules”… There may be a child who was hurt, unheard, and handed nothing but their own pain to manage. Substance use in survivors isn’t a moral failing—it’s a trauma response. And if we want different outcomes, we must offer different interventions—ones that heal, not just punish.
